Artwork Description

Acrylic on canvas
110 × 125 cm

A composition of coastline, architecture and open sky.

Some places remain with us long after we’ve left them - not as faithful memories, but as feelings.

Threshold distils architecture, sea and sky into a quiet meditation on memory, stillness and belonging. Reduced to essential forms and a restrained palette, it invites prolonged viewing and a sense of calm.

Artist Bio

Joanna Wolthuizen is an Australian abstract painter known for large-scale works that engage architecture through proportion, material stillness, and controlled geometry.

Developed in her Melbourne studio, her practice - termed Composed Abstractionâ„¢ - positions painting as a spatial instrument rather than an image.

Her works are held in private and corporate collections internationally and are recognised for their structural clarity, material restraint, and enduring presence.
