Artwork Description

Allegria translates to joy in Spanish. I wanted to explore the love that Frida and Diego shared for one another in the glory days of their tumultuous marriage. Frida would buy marigolds at the local market for Diego. I adore marigolds and their vibrant orange round petals. In my travels around the world I have found them often to be used as a symbol of celebration. They bring so much joy and light into one’s day. The vase was inspired by the stunning kaleidoscopic embroidery found in local Mexican markets.

Artist Bio

Flowers are Jodie's muse. Her paintings are a celebration of gloriously large abstract florals, using bold colour palettes. Painted bunches of vivid and luminous flowers embody what Jodie believes to be essential to our human experience; celebration, joy and gratitude.

In each painting the kaleidoscopic colour relationship is carefully thought out and compositionally, the flowers protrude out of the vase and off the canvas to honour their aesthetic beauty and natural form.

Jodie obtained a degree in Visual Arts at Queensland University of Technology. She travelled abroad and frequented many of the world's best modern art galleries and undertook a course at the TATE modern in London to further her artistic skills.

Her art studio is located in Noosa, Australia where she resides with her husband, two young daughters and dog, Frank.
