Windows to the Wild

In my latest abstract creation, I present to you a captivating tableau where reality intertwines with imagination, inviting you to embark on a journey of introspection and wonder. At the heart of the piece stands a towering figure, his presence commanding attention as he strolls through the cityscape, his head seemingly above the clouds. Bathed in vibrant hues and set against a backdrop of dramatic rainfall, this enigmatic figure exudes an aura of otherworldly allure, almost godlike in his demeanour.

As you gaze upon this mesmerizing scene, you're prompted to ponder the thoughts racing through the figure's mind. Is he a lost soul seeking direction amidst the urban chaos, or does he wield a power beyond mortal comprehension, in complete control of his destiny? The answer eludes us, deliberately left to the interpretation of each beholder.

Inspired by Tribal Art, Cubism and Graffiti amongst other artforms, Joel creates work which is raw in style but refined in its finish. His sculptures are assemblages of curious shapes which create compositions with personality and depth. Joel’s paintings are an amalgamation of styles. Using a mixed media approach, his work expresses emotion with loose drawing and colour coupled with more considered mark making.

Joel has been a finalist in several major art prizes within Australia and he exhibits his work throughout Australia.

Living and working in Sydney, Australia. Joel completed his studies at Sydney College of the Arts where he obtained a Bachelor of Visual Arts with First Class Honours. Prior to that he received a Diploma of Fine Arts at Sydney’s Meadowbank TAFE.
