Artwork Description

This painting represents the Tracks made on the beaches by sand crabs, and the water and whitewash as it moves up the beach, erasing the tracks as the tide comes in. It symbolises the ebb and flow of our lives and how fleeting life can be.

Artist Bio

My name is Johanna Luton ( nee Ruska) and I am a proud Quandamooka woman. Art for me is about taking something I see in nature and creating a unique view of it. I like to use raw materials to apply paint when creating my pieces and work mainly with acrylic. I spent some time in Western Australia when I was growing up before moving home to Queensland, My inspiration for my work is the natural beauty of our country, in particular Stradbroke Island. I grew up with the dream time stories of my Great Aunty Kathy (Oodgeroo Noonuccal) and I love to create stories with my art. I have also written a childrens book which includes snippets of my art works.
