This piece represents life and death, the new growing and the old decaying. There is a space in between where the living crosses into the dead, The circles are representative of the continuous nature of life.
My name is Johanna Luton ( nee Ruska) and I am a proud Quandamooka woman. Art for me is about taking something I see in nature and creating a unique view of it. I like to use raw materials to apply paint when creating my pieces and work mainly with acrylic. I spent some time in Western Australia when I was growing up before moving home to Queensland, My inspiration for my work is the natural beauty of our country, in particular Stradbroke Island. I grew up with the dream time stories of my Great Aunty Kathy (Oodgeroo Noonuccal) and I love to create stories with my art. I have also written a childrens book which includes snippets of my art works.
