Artwork Description

The mountain dwelling snow leopard is one of the most elusive creatures known to man; and yet man still threatens their existence in the arid, barren mountain areas of Central Asia. My depiction of a family group is wholly imaginary as capturing an image like this would impossible. Though the idea of a single adult with cubs is not imaginary as female snow leopards will raise their cubs for the first 18 months, alone. There is a scene towards the end of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (movie) that exemplifies the beauty of the snow leopard.

Artist Bio

I'm an Irish freelance wildlife artist based in Canberra since 2022.
I was born in Killyleagh, Northern Ireland and grew up exploring the shores of the Strangford Lough, not far from Belfast. The Irish woodlands, shorelines and rural landscape, instilled in me a deep-rooted love of nature and wildlife. That love now extends, in particular, to the unique birds and animals of Australia.
I work in a variety of mediums including oils, acrylics and watercolours and like to put nature under a microscope to show some of the detail and vibrancy of the incredible creatures that are the focus of my work.
Over the years I've contributed to various exhibitions in Belfast (including at Holywood Arches Gallery, the Collett Art Gallery, Browns Gallery and the Black Box) and in Vietnam. Since arriving in Canberra I have contributed to the annual Radford College Art Shows and the Artist Society of Canberra (ASOC) Spring Exhibitions. In early 2024 I mounted a successful solo exhibition at the Yarralumla Gallery, and then in September 2025 I exhibited work at The Link Ginninderry. The Bungendore Fine Art gallery will hold a selection of artworks in December 2025.
