John McAnulty was born in 1955, in some of the not so picturesque countryside of rural Victoria. From an early age, he demonstrated a deep passion for art, showcasing his innate talent in various creative endeavours. Today, John is an artist based in Melbourne.
He has participated in a number of exhibitions including the Herald Rotary Art Show, the Mornington Peninsula Regional Art Show, the Sandringham Art Show, and the Mentone and Mordialloc Art Group show (MMAG) - winning the People’s Choice Award.
John McAnulty has also undertaken some commissions for private individuals as well as providing the artwork for an “up and coming” rock band’s first album.
John is increasingly being drawn to historic themes encompassing people in everyday situations, through a nostalgic lens.
John Mac's artistic repertoire is marked by a continuing engagement with representational art. His creative exploration extends across various subjects, with an emphasis on the figure in the landscape and landscapes more generally.
Portraiture has become a significant facet of John Mac’s artistic expression and through careful attention to detail he brings his subjects to life.
