Artwork Description

A moody landscape beneath a gathering storm, marked by distant, signal-like structures across the horizon. Layered textures and an earthy palette create a sense of anticipation and quiet tension within the vast open space.

Artist Bio

I am a contemporary Australian artist working primarily in painting, using landscape and the human figure as metaphors for psychological and emotional states. My work explores themes of chaos, imbalance, guilt, vulnerability, and the search for meaning in a world that often feels overwhelming and beyond our control.

Rather than depicting literal places, I create inner landscapes — environments shaped by mood, memory, and perception. Mountains, valleys, and fractured terrain represent the instability and darkness that can accompany modern life, while moments of light suggest endurance, reflection, and the fragile belief that something unseen may still be working to ease the burden we carry.

My practice is influenced by expressionism, myth, and spiritual symbolism. I am drawn to the idea of pilgrimage — the ongoing act of moving through uncertainty rather than resolving it. The figures in my work often appear small or exposed within vast environments, reflecting a sense of human vulnerability, but also resilience.

I aim to create paintings that are emotionally honest and quietly confronting, works that invite the viewer to pause, reflect, and recognise their own inner terrain within the image. While my work engages with darker themes, it is ultimately about endurance, awareness, and the possibility of meaning within chaos.
