Artwork Description

An adaption of two of Édouard Manet’s paintings. 1875 Scene set in the Cabaret de Reichshoffen on the Boulevard Rochechouart, where women on the fringes of society freely intermingled with well-heeled gentlemen. Later that night the plum eater turned up at the cafe.

Artist Bio

"Art is a long journey of discovery"

John worked as an illustrator in the advertising world for over 15 years. Now retired, John is painting and drawing in earnest again, not that he ever stopped.
John’s Marine series draws on his early years as a member of Broken Bay Game Fishing Club and more importantly, on his years of sailing, and snorkeling around the islands of the Great Barrier Reef in the Whitsundays Queensland where John lived for many years.
Whether realistic or abstract, John creates visually engaging paintings. He draws the viewer into the scene, giving them an experience of a place or object.

‘Any day that I don’t paint or draw something, feels like a wasted day.’ - John N Mason
