Artwork Description

Immerse yourself in the depths of the Great Barrier Reef with "Sea Turtle," an original acrylic painting on canvas. This seascape captures a Greenback Sea Turtle amidst a vibrant community of reef fish. High-fin coralfish, lined butterflyfish, morish idol fish, humbug fish, and even a triggerfish swim alongside the graceful turtle, each a testament to the diverse life found in this natural wonder.

The artist's meticulous study of the Great Barrier Reef is evident in the realistic detail of the coral and marine life. Countless hours spent analysing the growth patterns of corals, the unique colour schemes of the fish, and their movement in the currents have resulted in a captivating scene. The artist's imagination extends the reality of the reef, creating a world of wonder and beauty.

This artwork is framed and ready to hang, making it easy to bring the wonder of the underwater world into your home. It's like having an aquarium that needs no maintenance. The calming blues and vibrant colours of the coral reef will create a serene atmosphere in any room. Perfect for adding a touch of nature to a living room, bedroom, or office.

Artist Bio

"Art is a long journey of discovery"

John worked as an illustrator in the advertising world for over 15 years. Now retired, John is painting and drawing in earnest again, not that he ever stopped.
John’s Marine series draws on his early years as a member of Broken Bay Game Fishing Club and more importantly, on his years of sailing, and snorkeling around the islands of the Great Barrier Reef in the Whitsundays Queensland where John lived for many years.
Whether realistic or abstract, John creates visually engaging paintings. He draws the viewer into the scene, giving them an experience of a place or object.

‘Any day that I don’t paint or draw something, feels like a wasted day.’ - John N Mason
