Art Deco Drive By

This 1930's building near me in Sydney's southern suburbs is one of the few commercial / residential buildings left around here from that era. Downstairs there is a French goods shop alongside Greek goods shop. Upstairs there are apartments, one being a violin teacher. A bit of bohemia in the burbs.
The road line markings lead the eye to the windows full of reflections and glimpses of inside. The shop front corner location reminds me of some of Edward Hopper's New York shop fronts.

A self taught artist. I don't restrict myself in media and styles.I enjoy painting in oils, acrylics, gouache and watercolour. I have an affinity for capturing moments from places I have been lucky enough to travel to. Often developing paintings from plein air sketches I have done in the field. Whilst I enjoy contemporary realism and impressionism I will sometimes stray into the realm of pure abstraction. Convincing portrayals of light and colour are usually my main goals. Subject matter can range from the grand to the mundane and quirky.
