Artwork Description

An iconic mural on an historical building in Ballarat. Ballarat Bertie was the cartoonish mascot for Ballarat Bitter beer. Supposedly based on a real cellarman. The mural is a nice reminder of a bit of early influencing. The building formerly a shop is now apartments with the old mural still an integral feature.

Artist Bio

A self taught artist. I don't restrict myself in media and styles.I enjoy painting in oils, acrylics, gouache and watercolour. I have an affinity for capturing moments from places I have been lucky enough to travel to. Often developing paintings from plein air sketches I have done in the field. Whilst I enjoy contemporary realism and impressionism I will sometimes stray into the realm of pure abstraction. Convincing portrayals of light and colour are usually my main goals. Subject matter can range from the grand to the mundane and quirky.
