Artwork Description

I worked on Jones Bay Wharf near Sydney Harbour for some time. Harbour views were plentiful. This is a twilight view back to the Rocks and Sydney harbour Bridge. The late afternoon sun gives a glow. I did this as a loose ink sketch which i then painted over in Gouache - leaving the sketch partly visible. It gives the painting a dynamic almost like a linocut.

Artist Bio

A self taught artist. I don't restrict myself in media and styles.I enjoy painting in oils, acrylics, gouache and watercolour. I have an affinity for capturing moments from places I have been lucky enough to travel to. Often developing paintings from plein air sketches I have done in the field. Whilst I enjoy contemporary realism and impressionism I will sometimes stray into the realm of pure abstraction. Convincing portrayals of light and colour are usually my main goals. Subject matter can range from the grand to the mundane and quirky.
