Cinque Terre - Vernazza

The Cinque Terre region on the Italian coast consists of five towns. You can walk between them on coastal track giving fine views all the way, A favourite region for artists. This is the town of Vernazza. I've followed the maxim of "small painting big brush" here to give a fresh painterly view of afternoon shadows.

A self taught artist. I don't restrict myself in media and styles.I enjoy painting in oils, acrylics, gouache and watercolour. I have an affinity for capturing moments from places I have been lucky enough to travel to. Often developing paintings from plein air sketches I have done in the field. Whilst I enjoy contemporary realism and impressionism I will sometimes stray into the realm of pure abstraction. Convincing portrayals of light and colour are usually my main goals. Subject matter can range from the grand to the mundane and quirky.
