Finke River

The Finke River in the Northern Territory winds its way through deep orange red cliff gorges. The light can have dramatic effects as it penetrates in slivers to the riverside both highlighting and casting shadows. The blue river highlight is important to the painting here.

A self taught artist. I don't restrict myself in media and styles.I enjoy painting in oils, acrylics, gouache and watercolour. I have an affinity for capturing moments from places I have been lucky enough to travel to. Often developing paintings from plein air sketches I have done in the field. Whilst I enjoy contemporary realism and impressionism I will sometimes stray into the realm of pure abstraction. Convincing portrayals of light and colour are usually my main goals. Subject matter can range from the grand to the mundane and quirky.
