Artwork Description

This is a view in Carss Park south of Sydney looking out to Kogarah Bay. The old sandstone cottage dates back to the 1850's. The subtle shadows on the building reminded me of ghosts of earlier days.
This painting won Best Oil Painting in St George Art Society Annual Exhibition 2023.

Artist Bio

A self taught artist. I don't restrict myself in media and styles.I enjoy painting in oils, acrylics, gouache and watercolour. I have an affinity for capturing moments from places I have been lucky enough to travel to. Often developing paintings from plein air sketches I have done in the field. Whilst I enjoy contemporary realism and impressionism I will sometimes stray into the realm of pure abstraction. Convincing portrayals of light and colour are usually my main goals. Subject matter can range from the grand to the mundane and quirky.
