Artwork Description

There's a cliff walk near Cronulla in Sydney's south. Great coastal views. This tree is well known for it's distinctive windswept sprawling habit. I've kept other elements of the painting quite simple to make sure the tree is the dominant subject. Googling tells me it may be a Pohutukawa tree. But I'm no botanist.

I have an affinity for capturing moments from places I have been lucky enough to travel to. Often developing paintings from plein air sketches I have done in the field. Whilst I enjoy contemporary realism and impressionism I will sometimes stray into the realm of pure abstraction. Convincing portrayals of light and colour are usually my main goals. Subject matter can range from the grand to the mundane and quirky.
