Port Vila Fruit Market

The fruit market on a South Pacific island is always a colourful place. Here in Vanuatu the women are predominately in Island dress which adds to the scene. It wasn't intentional but this reminds me a bit of some of Pierre Bonnard's paintings.

A self taught artist. I don't restrict myself in media and styles.I enjoy painting in oils, acrylics, gouache and watercolour. I have an affinity for capturing moments from places I have been lucky enough to travel to. Often developing paintings from plein air sketches I have done in the field. Whilst I enjoy contemporary realism and impressionism I will sometimes stray into the realm of pure abstraction. Convincing portrayals of light and colour are usually my main goals. Subject matter can range from the grand to the mundane and quirky.
