Under Tom Uglys

This is the Tom Uglys Bridge on the Georges River in the south of Sydney. I recently went on a lunch cruise up the river. Lots of painting inspiration. The strong geometry of the bridge gives an abstract quality to the realist painting.

A self taught artist. I don't restrict myself in media and styles.I enjoy painting in oils, acrylics, gouache and watercolour. I have an affinity for capturing moments from places I have been lucky enough to travel to. Often developing paintings from plein air sketches I have done in the field. Whilst I enjoy contemporary realism and impressionism I will sometimes stray into the realm of pure abstraction. Convincing portrayals of light and colour are usually my main goals. Subject matter can range from the grand to the mundane and quirky.
