View from the Dental Hospital Sydney 1939

This was inspired by a black and white photo taken in 1939. The view is of Elizabeth St Sydney taken through the distinctive facetted window of the newly constructed( at that time) Sydney Dental Hospital. I've hopefully chosen correct colours for the trams, buses and trains of the era. The original B & W photo was by Beau Leonard of the Sydney Morning Herald.

A self taught artist. I don't restrict myself in media and styles.I enjoy painting in oils, acrylics, gouache and watercolour. I have an affinity for capturing moments from places I have been lucky enough to travel to. Often developing paintings from plein air sketches I have done in the field. Whilst I enjoy contemporary realism and impressionism I will sometimes stray into the realm of pure abstraction. Convincing portrayals of light and colour are usually my main goals. Subject matter can range from the grand to the mundane and quirky.
