Green-crowned brilliants are sturdy, bright green hummingbirds of the wet forests of Central and South America. They are confident at flowers and often defend favourite plants, perching nearby between feeds. Like many hummingbirds, they favour tubular blooms tucked among bright bracts, which keep the nectar for long-billed birds.

The bird hovers in the open on the left, the dark-red flower stands tall on the right, and the warm background ties them together. It is a rich, painterly palette, and the contrast between the green bird and crimson flower makes both colours sing.

It is a warm, vibrant print. It suits a living room, dining room or study, works beautifully with timber and brass, and makes a striking gift for bird lovers and gardeners.
