Artwork Description

In near-perfect early-afternoon light at the Lewa Conservancy in Kenya, a female black rhino grazed in long green grass with her calf beside her, a darkening sky behind them. It was a genuine highlight of my career.

Black rhinos are critically endangered, so a healthy mother with a calf is a truly hopeful sight. Lewa, in northern Kenya, has played a central role in bringing the species back from the brink, and its rhino population has grown steadily under round-the-clock protection.

The warm light on the green grass contrasts with the dark storm sky, and the mother and calf sit together in the middle of the frame. It is a calm, optimistic image of the next generation of a species fighting for survival.

Printed large, it is a meaningful statement piece for a living room, study or office, and a thoughtful gift for conservation supporters and new parents alike.
