Powderfinger

I named this piece Powderfinger inspired by song of same name on Neil Young’s Rust Never Sleeps album released in 1979, and also adequately covered by Cowboy Junkies. It comprises a visual feast of colourful squiggles as seen through a jagged background shades of green frame. With this painting nothing at all was planned beforehand, as loudly played Neil Young guitar solos shook the speakers …………… the spur of the moment colours were chosen at random as the pattern arose spontaneously to create a work of art that possessed an offbeat quirkiness. I continuously worked on this painting and adjusted it until the sounds of Crazy Horse faded away and it felt complete. NB : This is a reworked heavy duty canvas on a sturdy solid frame weighing 10kg in total.

I was born in Preston, Lancashire in 1949 and currently live in Carramar, Western Australia………. where I have resided for the past 30 years.
I was the owner of a successful family-run Real Estate Agency for 12 years prior to retirement in late 2017.
Before relocating to Perth in 1990 I lived on the troubled war-torn Bougainville Island in Papua New Guinea for 10 years, followed by 3 years in the Solomon Islands.

As an artist, by using my vivid imagination……… I am able to create and communicate my ideas into visual form on a blank canvas.
My artwork has certainly enriched my life and here’s to hoping that same can enrich someone else’s life, as my creations hang prominently displayed on your walls.
When you engage with my artwork, I sincerely hope that you too will be overcome by feelings of joy, loads of feel-good energy, and relief from stress, as you form a good harmonious relationship with the contrasting colours and vitality that rises up from my canvases.

All of my paintings are acrylic on stretched canvas; ready to hang. In my studio I ask Alexa to play music very loud by my favourite artists, as same gives me inspiration.
Painting is therapeutic to me and I get a great feeling of pleasure as I disappear into my creativeness whereby I apply rich and vibrant acrylic colours to my canvas.
Through my artwork; it is my desire to put a smile on your face ………. and bring some joy to your heart.
