Jolon Larter is a Sydney based, self-taught artist and has been an artist very much instinctively for most of his life, with his grandparents, artists Pat And Richard Larter having been a huge influence from an early age, in fact, barely anyone can remember a time when he wasn't wielding a pencil or paintbrush, from elaborately illustrating graphic depictions of gore to accompany horror stories during childhood to drawing superheroes, centrefold models and portraits of rock stars during adolescence.
Jolon Larter utilizes a variety of mediums, applying the mantra "anything that leaves a mark" with the artwork fluctuating between controlled precision and frenzied spontaneity and with themes often indulging in contradictions, that focus on societal contrasts, the deconstruction of beauty, and the shedding of creative inhibitions. Pranks and other subversive actions are also among his creative repertoir.
Previous creative endeavors have included the creation of comic books/zines, graphic design and digital art, as well as murals, canvas paintings, children's book illustrations and public art projects.
