Artwork Description

The wharf at Echuca is a shadow of it's prewar existence when it stretched down the river and around the bend. In this shot the network of galleries and walkways can be clearly seen. The B12 barge fills the foreground and has long since been reclaimed.

Artist Bio

One of the bitter things in life is making a living, I like to eat and to do this, I worked as a photographer. Simple stuff, people would arrive, they had a product, a layout and your job was to photograph that layout. For a lot of the time I was involved in the film industry returning to the studio. Again, the work one does is dictated by others. For a decade photography took another turn, this time alternating between wine and food and tourism, but still others told me what to shoot, where and how. It is something you live with if photography is your livelihood. I have always had a desire to do creative work where I am the only one calling the shots and since retirement that has been my aim. predominantly, I shoot black and white since it leads me away from old habits however, colour is always there.
