Artwork Description

Royal Queensland Art Society Art of Imagination Exhibition Finalist 2023

Inspired by Greek mythology; this painting depicts Nereus, known as the Old Man of the Sea and his pupil Aphrodite, the Olympian goddess of love and beauty. Nereus is a less known figure of mythology who’s appearance and desires can be left to anyone’s imagination.

Artist Bio

Jordan Lambi is an emerging artist based in Meanjin/Brisbane. Raised by an established visual artist, art was a large part of his childhood; however, it was largely forgotten about due to other passions being focused on until 2020. Since then, there has been a deep dive into artistic expression and 2022 marked the year of dedicating meaningful time to painting, a first sale and the first time being a finalist in three art prizes at Petrie Terrace Gallery. Working with oils, varying forms of abstract art have been explored so far. Jordan’s work is defined by the use of bold colours and liquid forms and shapes in an expressionist form. Always striving to create an emotion in the work, the specifics of this is typically found as the painting emerges.
