Artwork Description

Recovered Futures Art Exhibition Finalist 2023

This painting has a bit of a weird story, I went to do a painting while I was isolating with covid and found a hole in my last blank canvas. I decided to cover up the hole by gluing my positive RAT test. I then found ANOTHER hole in the canvas so I put the project off for a while. I found a polaroid of me from a bad angle and decided to use that for the second hole. From there the rest of the painting is based loosely on a very old sketch I did when I rediscovered my love of creating art and had heaps of fun blending these colours.

Artist Bio

Jordan Lambi is an emerging artist based in Meanjin/Brisbane. Raised by an established visual artist, art was a large part of his childhood; however, it was largely forgotten about due to other passions being focused on until 2020. Since then, there has been a deep dive into artistic expression and 2022 marked the year of dedicating meaningful time to painting, a first sale and the first time being a finalist in three art prizes at Petrie Terrace Gallery. Working with oils, varying forms of abstract art have been explored so far. Jordan’s work is defined by the use of bold colours and liquid forms and shapes in an expressionist form. Always striving to create an emotion in the work, the specifics of this is typically found as the painting emerges.
