A year or so ago I was browsing on the internet for some interesting and unique props for my paintings. I came across this ruby decanter with no finial. I fell in love with it and bought it immediately. When it arrived, it felt as unique as it was intended to be and there was no delay in incorporating it into a larger size still life. It had to be a little more dramatic and hence the darker colour background which made it look 17th. Century. Yet I have also chosen to purposefully resist making things too dark.
The real bottle is slightly smaller in reality, yet with artistic license I like to add a little something extra to accentuate something this unique and splendorous. It is rare nowadays to find suitable objects to paint that has such an air of class like this one.
Please note: As with all art works, framing is a very personal choice based on taste and interior design. Most people will choose to have their investment re-framed accordingly. Therefore the included frame is merely complimentary and intended foremost as protection against bumps and scratches whilst in storage.
