Josephine is a Phillip Island artist who has been exhibiting since 1985.
“I have always loved drawing the figure and have been doing life drawing since l was 16 years old, l also have a great love for nature and have spent many hours doing plein-air works in various mediums.
However, the greater love for me is drawing from the mind, from inspiration, following the thread and watching the stories unfold, this makes me a narrative artist. It is not important to me that the works are realistic, but that they are emotive. I am happy to pass on how the stories have inspired me, but l love hearing about your perceptions, to me this is the most exciting part of creating. Message me if you want to share your thoughts or know more.
I also write, have been involved in many community art projects, local theatre, including directing my play “Two Days on the Road”.
I have also been a director of Island Influence Art since 1994 with my husband Russell Kent. We have organised exhibitions, ran a gallery/studio for over eight years, created tourist art products and have done freelance illustration works. Presently we work from our home studios and welcome visitors by appointment."
