Abundance By The Sea

A study of the ocean looking out at sea. A painting which reflects a single moment in time. Not knowing what tomorrow may bring one can only hope for another great day, full of abundance. Being attuned to nature and it’s endless flow, the sea brings plenty for those in need.

Josephine Dash is a passionate Wollongong based Visual Artist who enjoys working with various mediums and media arts to explore universal themes such as hope, healing and spirituality. She has a Bachelor of Creative Arts - Major in Visual Arts, from the University of Wollongong and enjoys painting in a semi-abstract style, using a combination of palette knife and traditional brush strokes to achieve the desirable effects. She implements a slow painting process using multiple paint layering techniques to express the meditative and dreamlike state of consciousness she experiences when making art. This process is grounded in the practice based research of how memory and aesthetics relate to time and place through the medicinal qualities of art therapy. Through these connections and by living on the South Coast of Australia, Dash finds endless subject matter and inspiration to create these artworks.
