This painting emphasises movement, arising memories and impressions of the sea, through the elements of nature. Inspiration for creating this seascape painting comes from living on the South Coast of Australia. Marks were made using paint to connect the spirit elements (water and air), with the collective unconscious. Inspired by this process I remembered how to dream and find happiness within, surrounding myself and connecting with the sky and local sea breeze.

Artist Bio
Josephine Dash is a passionate Wollongong based Visual Artist who enjoys working with various mediums and media arts to explore universal themes such as hope, healing and spirituality. She has a Bachelor of Creative Arts - Major in Visual Arts, from the University of Wollongong and enjoys painting in a semi-abstract style, using a combination of palette knife and traditional brush strokes to achieve the desirable effects. She implements a slow painting process using multiple paint layering techniques to express the meditative and dreamlike state of consciousness she experiences when making art. This process is grounded in the practice based research of how memory and aesthetics relate to time and place through the medicinal qualities of art therapy. Through these connections and by living on the South Coast of Australia, Dash finds endless subject matter and inspiration to create these artworks.
