Artwork Description

CREATED BY JOSEPHINE WINDOW.

LARGE ABSTRACT OIL PAINTING ON STRETCHED CANVAS.

GEOMETRIC AND MAXIMALISM STYLES

Inspiration for this artwork came from the beauty of colours in nature. My goal is to make colours sing in dynamic harmony.

Flowering Colour is the latest of my series of Colour Circle oil paintings. Here I experimented with patches of colours radiating outwards in a formal composition. I used a clean, white background to contrast with the bright colours. A rich quality finish is assured with three layers of oil pigments and time to dry between each layer. The painting is now fully dry.

I’m proud to have my beautiful painting, Flowering Colour, featured in the Artfinder Collection, Maximalism 2022.

Listed in Aesthetica Magazine Issue 68 Artist Directory December-January 2016

Please Note: Economic and low carbon shipping from Australia. Large works are taken off the stretcher frame, carefully packaged and shipped in a strong plastic tube. These packaging materials can be recycled. Your painting can easily be re-mounted on a new stretcher frame by your local picture framer. The cost is much less than shipping the artwork on the frame in a plywood box.

A signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity is included.

Please Note: Artwork in the setting is for display purposes only, and is not to scale.

My Story

I am an Australian artist living in Lismore New South Wales. I create vibrant abstract paintings and drawings using dynamic movements of beautiful colours and dramatic contrasts. I love working on my creations, which express high positive energy. I work quickly to music, responding to my emotions in an expressive and gestural style. Current artworks are inspired by nature and the human body.
Recently I have focused on large colourful abstract paintings, which evoke positive emotions and make a visual impact. I also enjoy working with the life model in Dynamic Drawing weekly sessions at Byron Bay, where I create layered, abstract figure drawings and enjoy the company of other artists. Many years of experimental art practice, colour studies and figure drawing from life models allow me to be a free spirit in my art – spontaneous, innovative, bold and joyful.
