Artwork Description

Artist Josephine Window created Ink Brush Drawing 9 from the life model. Styles she uses for figure drawing are Abstract, Abstract Expressionist and Gestural.
She takes lines, shapes and forms from the model and builds a layered figure composition.

In Josephine's words: "Ink Brush Drawing is one of my favourite art forms. That's because I can use a variety of materials and techniques, to create a dynamic artwork, full of energy and vitality.
So, with Ink Brush Drawing 9, I've used silver highlights to create an atmosphere and emphasise the substance of the body.

The inspiration for the Ink Drawing Series comes from the life model in a drawing group setting (Dynamic Drawing). Here my imagination soon takes over, because daily concerns are left behind. Also the ambience of the scene is inspiring. Woman, the body, dance and music are all important factors because they provide dynamism, colours and drama”. Here I enjoy working in the company of other artists.

The Process: I love to create these works quickly to music, as this brings freedom, spontaneity and innovation to my expression. I brush in movements, colours, shapes and lines immediately, in the moment. There's no time to think.

Abstract Ink Brush Drawing 9 was worked from the life model at a Friday morning Dynamic Drawing session in Byron Bay, Australia. It was started in 2019 and finished in my studio this week (February 2022)".

A signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity is included.

My Story

I am an Australian artist living in Lismore New South Wales. I create vibrant abstract paintings and drawings using dynamic movements of beautiful colours and dramatic contrasts. I love working on my creations, which express high positive energy. I work quickly to music, responding to my emotions in an expressive and gestural style. Current artworks are inspired by nature and the human body.
Recently I have focused on large colourful abstract paintings, which evoke positive emotions and make a visual impact. I also enjoy working with the life model in Dynamic Drawing weekly sessions at Byron Bay, where I create layered, abstract figure drawings and enjoy the company of other artists. Many years of experimental art practice, colour studies and figure drawing from life models allow me to be a free spirit in my art – spontaneous, innovative, bold and joyful.
