Turquoise Deeps 1

Large Acrylic Painting on stretched canvas. Turquoise Deeps 1 is the start of my new series. My goal is to develop beautiful effects with blue, turquoise and green colours - colours of the sea. I’ve hand mixed the colours to descend down the surface from blue, through turquoise to green. The painting is worked in 5 layers of colours to achieve the richness, depth and professional finish I desire.

The variety of sea colours and myriads of unusual creatures crowding the depths of the sea are fascinating and inspiring to me. I would not have this awareness, except for the wonderful TV programs of the British natural historian and broadcaster, Sir David Attenborough.

Biography

My Story

I am an Australian artist living in Lismore New South Wales. I create vibrant abstract paintings and drawings using dynamic movements of beautiful colours and dramatic contrasts. I love working on my creations, which express high positive energy. I work quickly to music, responding to my emotions in an expressive and gestural style. Current artworks are inspired by nature and the human body.
Recently I have focused on large colourful abstract paintings, which evoke positive emotions and make a visual impact. I also enjoy working with the life model in Dynamic Drawing weekly sessions at Byron Bay, where I create layered, abstract figure drawings and enjoy the company of other artists. Many years of experimental art practice, colour studies and figure drawing from life models allow me to be a free spirit in my art – spontaneous, innovative, bold and joyful.
