Self taught and Brisbane based, Josie explores the emotive aspect of how Woman interacts with herself and those around her.
“I have always had a passion for arts, and enjoy mixing media and experimenting in different forms, yet always coming back to a deep love for drawing. I found myself being pulled to revisit this passion and focus on two very specific subjects that have been a significant part of our lives over recent years- pregnancy of my own and breast cancer of my Mother; both of which have shaped much of our emotional and mental journeys over this time in many ways.
The overall concept of the two themes that much of my work has circled around is of absolute celebration and joy- for health, no matter how that may look for each woman. This is explored with pregnancy and breast cancer works but also in the female figure works that hold that same love and celebration for all.”
