I started with an intuitive collaged background and washes, then the colours and mood inspired me to do this twilight scene of the contemplative companionship between the woman and the owl.

However, not until my mid 70's did time and space allow me to persue this urge more seriously on a daily basis. I've been working mainly in acrylics on canvas or board but pastels and multimedia have now entered my artwork. Basically I am self taught and enjoy experimenting and challenging myself. I am drawn to painting still life and Australian birds and flora. A lot goes on in my head at first then once I start I seem to settle into another realm and the work takes over. My inspiration comes from everyday domestic life and nature, it's colours and especially the play of light and shadow. I like to push myself and tackle new ideas. To make art, to learn, to stretch myself seems enough and if others are drawn to my artwork then this connection is an added bonus and one I value.
