Artwork Description

Wednesday evening, 18:26, July 20th, rainy winter day... Wet footpaths above Town Hall train station reflecting muted lights of hundreds cars stacked in traffic jam... Spinning grey balls represent people, tired and stressed from work, with their thoughts about a short reminder of the day ,rushing in every direction, hurrying to catch trains at the underground station.
I am sitting in the car in Bathurst Street, just before George St intersection, traffic is crawling, passing Town Hall on my left side. Just dropped customer at Adina Apartments at the corner of Bathurst and Kent St ... trying to beat traffic and get to the airport for my next job, Qantas 458 from Melbourne, landing at 19:25.

Artist Bio

J.S.Gvozden is a Sydney architect, painter and photographer. For the last 20 years, he has observed, documented and expressed his view of Sydney and its people through photographic images, sketchbooks, video clips, paintings and drawings.
Focusing on daily rhythm, habits and rituals of Sydney inhabitants and city ever changing fabric, Gvozden explores the meaning of life in general.
His vision of a vibrant city and people living there is optimistic and pessimistic at the same time. Despite of all richness and beauty given to lucky five million people, layers of sadness and life not lived in full are all around. His works send a warning via often present boxed figures, representing individuals with all their potential imaginable, but restrained in boxes well before it is the time for that.
