Artwork Description

Meet Atlas, part of my Horsing Around collection.

This series was inspired during time spent at a friend’s farm in the Adelaide Hills. I had always held a deep respect for horses, but being around them in that environment revealed something more. It gave me a deeper understanding of their nature and the subtle ways they connect, both with each other and with us.

That experience shaped the way I approached this painting. It’s not just about capturing the physical form of the horse, but expressing their personality. There’s a sense of calm and connection woven through the work, reflecting the love and appreciation that grew from those moments.

This piece is for someone who wants to bring warmth and quiet sophistication into their space — a painting that not only elevates a room visually, but invites stillness, adds depth, and becomes something you return to, time and time again.

Artist Bio

Hi there, I'm J.T Fisher... I paint the emotional truth beneath the masks people wear.

My work explores identity, connection, vulnerability, resilience, and the quiet emotions so many people carry but rarely speak about. Through expressive portraiture, bold colour, and intuitive mark-making, I create paintings that invite people to feel understood rather than impressed. I’m drawn to the beauty found within imperfection — the tension between strength and softness, chaos and healing, pain and hope.
The eyes within my portraits often hold the emotional weight of the work, becoming a place where memory, honesty, and human connection meet.

As someone who has navigated mixed cultural identity, motherhood, neurodivergence within family life, abandonment, and the ongoing journey of self-understanding, I paint from lived emotional experience rather than surface appearance.

My paintings are for people who are tired of perfection and performance.

For people who want to feel seen.

For people who understand that vulnerability is not weakness — it is where real connection begins.
