Artwork Description

I always have had a great respect for the ocean, there's a whole universe living down there, Turtles are amazing creatues that move peacefully in the water, blending with the current and the deep and vast blue. The turtle is the central subject in this painting, it's rendered with a striking mix of warm and cool colors.
Its shell is a patchwork of bright oranges, yellows, and deep reds, outlined with blues. In contrast, its head and flippers are a mosaic of cool blues, teals, and purples, speckled with splashes of the same warm yellows and oranges found on its shell. These strokes, painted in a mosaic pattern, create a sense of texture and shimmering light, as if the turtle is moving through fragmented currents.

Artist Bio

Juan Carlos Ruiz, a natural artist from Mexico City, has carved a unique niche in the art world with his vibrant and evocative impressionistic paintings. With a foundation built in high school art studies and mentorship from several Mexican masters, Juan’s artistic journey has been deeply influenced by both formal training and self-directed exploration.

From a young age, Juan was captivated by the power of visual storytelling, initially channelling his creativity into drawing and painting superheroes. His passion for the arts evolved as he delved into the techniques of the old masters, meticulously recreating iconic works such as Michelangelo’s *The Creation of Man*, Vincent van Gogh’s *Starry Night*, and Johannes Vermeer’s *The Milkmaid*. This rigorous study of historical masterpieces laid the groundwork for Juan’s distinctive style.

Juan’s artistic signature lies in his impressionistic approach, where he employs acrylics and oils to produce dynamic and textured compositions. His technique, which he terms "Broken Strokes," infuses his paintings with vibrant energy, movement, and tactile depth. These bold and fragmented brushstrokes bring a unique liveliness to his work, enhancing the visual experience and inviting viewers into his vivid, impressionistic world.

Juan’s work has garnered attention in various exhibitions and is currently showcased in a local restaurant and the Port Noarlunga Art House. His participation in several art shows has not only expanded his visibility but also led to the successful sale of numerous pieces, reflecting a growing appreciation for his distinctive artistic voice.

Presently, Juan is focused on large-scale paintings that celebrate the natural beauty of southern landscapes. His ongoing projects include the evocative "Coast Line" series and the serene "Moana Sunrise" series, both of which highlight his fascination with the interplay between nature and light.

Guided by a deep admiration for the beauty of water and the connection between people and their surroundings, Juan’s work is deeply personal and rooted in his experiences and memories from various places he has lived. Each piece is a reflection of his journey, capturing the essence of nature and the emotional resonance of his personal feelings.

Juan continues to explore new artistic horizons, driven by a passion for discovering new forms in his ever-evolving body of work.
