Painted en plein air from the edge of Bondi’s iconic Icebergs, this piece captures the shifting blues, the sharp light and the restless movement of the Pacific as it meets the pool. Working outdoors allowed me to respond directly to the wind, the glare and the changing tide—elements that shape both the place and the painting.
This work forms part of an ongoing eastern suburbs series, a collection exploring the contrast between raw coastline and the calm ritual of swimming, sunbathing and watching the ocean.
The painting carries a mix of energy and stillness: the turbulence of the surf against the quiet geometry of the pool, the warmth of the figures, and the cool expanse of water stretching to the horizon.
