The Sunshine Coast and Hinterland is a view we enjoy daily, weather permitting of course. Maleny, known for its mists, rain forests, dairy farms and lush green vegetation provides me with endless subjects and vistas for my art practice.
Sunrise over the valley wakens the quiet sleepiness of our hills like a stage curtain being drawn back. The cool blues of twilight melt into colour. The pink skies are followed by this momentary flush of light splashing across our landscape.
By working with layers and glazing I have tried to capture the vibrancy and reflected colours that sunrise brings. My own photos were the references for this artwork.
