Artwork Description

I visited the Oxford Botanical garden and this wonderful border display of summer cone flowers was catching the light early morning. The hot pink flowers are offset by tall blue echinacea and yellow daisies.

Artist Bio

My background in landscape horticulture with technical and perspective drawing sparked my interest in painting treescapes and gardens. Subsequently I spent time studying with well known New Zealand artist Paul Coney and also the Edinburgh Atelier of Fine Art. Plants have cultural and symbolic importance to people worldwide and they define our landscapes and interactions with the natural world. I love the structural detail of plants, their textures and colour, out of which we create gardens and history.

I am based on the Sunshine Coast and paint full time I have also designed and produced a series of botanic based prints using watercolour with pen and ink. These can be purchased unframed from my website.

I paint gardenscapes in oil and acrylic on canvas, seeking to capture the lush sub tropics of palms, scented flowers and foliage. My practice focuses on the aesthetic of being in a garden.
