Words that describe my paintings are vibrant, impressionistic, detailed and powerful. Originally I gained my art teaching degree and master of art degree in Sydney at College of fine art, which is part of N.S.W University. I am now living in Tasmania. Both cities have inspired my artwork although they have different light both cities have commanding landscapes and water. I grew up in a difficult childhood in Rose Bay Sydney and I was able to take inspiration and solace from the landscape and the water.
I moved permanent to Tasmania three years ago to another water location, which is also inspiring, and my house & studio have water views. I now concentrate on developing my artwork & art exhibitions after having taught art in schools for many years in Sydney, as well as exhibiting in-group and solo art shows.
This year has been a busy year. Starting with a small art display at “Off Centre” Gallery in Hobart the subject matter being the Sydney to Hobart yacht race. Then working on different landscapes During April with “Hand Made in Cygnet” event taking place which is a studio opening event depicting many artists around Cygnet.
Water, sky, land and people, such as Randal’s Bay, Wattle Grove & Cradle Mountain, inspire my paintings. During this year sales and commissions have taken place depicting some of these subject matters.
My work is colourful, detailed & complex. I am currently working on a commission depicting Wattle Grove Tasmania and art exhibition at Cradle Mountain Wilderness Gallery titled “and the people will COME” starting in June 2018 to September 2018 which will be a series of artwork describing the story of Kate and Gustav who built the first chalet at Cradle Mountain called Waldheim and Kate was the first white woman to reach the peak of Cradle Mt in 1910
Artists such as Brett Whitely and Kandinsky, Margaret Preston and Joseph Albers inspire me
