Acrylic Paint on canvas
Signed on the front.
I find that paintings dogs is actually painting emotions and attitudes.
This dalmatian has a beautiful dignity.
I paint from photographs because dogs don't sit still long enough to paint them in a pose.
I am inspired by the renaissance and Victorian portrait painters, the elegance of Stubbs, and the rawness and emotion of the brush work of Ben Quilty.
I find the path hats seem to underline the dignity of the animal somehow, plus i just like the froth and frivolity of the party hat. It makes me smile when I walk into my studio each morning.
The painting is on unstretched artist canvas, so will need to be framed behind glass. The painting has a border unpainted. I like this because it gives space to the image, and makes it easier to frame.
Canvas size is 43cm W x 46 cm H
