Artwork Description

The mythical island of Arthurian legend, a place of lush emerald green forests with impressions of flowers in pink and red blurred slightly as if seen through a misty spring rain.
Avalon is a paint collage combined with strips of gardening magazine paper laid over a fluid vibrant green painting.

This work is fitted with D rings and wire for immediate hanging. The pattern continues around all sides, therefore, there is no need to frame. On the back you will find my signature, initials, title and year. It is registered on the NRAA (National Registry for Australian artists). The work comes with details of the registration and a Certificate of Authenticity.

THE FRAGMENTED COLLECTION

The Fragmented Collection is my biggest series to date and one which I return to often. These works use collage techniques to fragment various paintings that have been removed from any support. This enables me to decide which side of the dry paint to show, the side I saw when painting it or the side that painted itself. I think of this as hiding secrets in plain sight.

Biography
.
Based in Melbourne, Julee Latimer creates dynamic, textural works that challenge traditional painting. By pouring paint onto plastic surfaces and peeling it away, she treats the medium as a solid material, blending elements of textiles with three-dimensional form. Each piece is crafted through extensive cutting and assembly, resulting in intricate, tactile compositions.
.
Her work has been recognized as a finalist in major art prizes and is held in international collections, including Hotel Capella (Sydney), Hotel Conrad Orchard (Singapore) and the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab (Chicago, USA).
.
Latimer offers a distinctive voice in contemporary painting and sculpture, bridging genres with a bold, fiber-inspired approach and a global perspective.
