Artwork Description

In response to the reduced freedoms we are experiencing with the threat of COVID-19 my desire to cover the canvas in pattern is prevented by the addition of a boundary line.
Slicing across the work it acts as a division between the two sides encouraging each to remain in their designated area.

Please note that the in situ images show the painting with Restricted 2.

This work is fitted with D rings and wire for immediate hanging. The pattern continues around all sides, therefore, there is no need to frame. On the back you will find my signature, initials, title and year. It is registered on the NRAA (National Registry for Australian artists). The work comes with details of the registration and a Certificate of Authenticity.

THE LINEAR COLLECTION

This series takes inspiration from the repetitive simplicity of minimalism with its precise geometry and blends it with explosive pattern and vibrant colour.

Strips are cut from dried paint and laid by hand over the canvas often with the addition of wallpaper. By painting a variety of abstracts on plasticized surfaces I am able to remove the works when dry enabling a choice of which side of the strips to show. Each finished piece is, therefore, a unique blend of the usually visible with the often hidden. The more they are looked at the more there is to see.

Biography
.
Based in Melbourne, Julee Latimer creates dynamic, textural works that challenge traditional painting. By pouring paint onto plastic surfaces and peeling it away, she treats the medium as a solid material, blending elements of textiles with three-dimensional form. Each piece is crafted through extensive cutting and assembly, resulting in intricate, tactile compositions.
.
Her work has been recognized as a finalist in major art prizes and is held in international collections, including Hotel Capella (Sydney), Hotel Conrad Orchard (Singapore) and the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab (Chicago, USA).
.
Latimer offers a distinctive voice in contemporary painting and sculpture, bridging genres with a bold, fiber-inspired approach and a global perspective.
