The dominance of wildlife as I walked through my local nature reserve was the inspiration for this piece. I wanted to capture the explosion of sound and the feeling of intrusion for each footstep I took.
Julia Goodchild was originally trained in Illustration, completing a degree in Visual Communication at Middlesex University in London in 2001. She became a Visual Art teacher in 2004 and worked in the UK and Singapore before taking on her most challenging role as a mum to 3 boys and traveling the world as a diplomat's spouse. Recently she as returned to her passion to painting and experimenting with combining print media, painting. and drawing. "The landscape and wildlife of Australia and in particular the Canberra region is my current inspiration: The crumbly gum trees, arrogant Cockatoos and imposing insects. I want to illustrate the story of the landscape around me in my art work."
