Leaf Power

This piece is a tryptich in three separate, vertical parts. Together or separate, they bring a sense of peace and calm to a room, bringing to mind leafy trees and waterfalls and the peaceful power they have.
A common theme in my work is the idea of flow. I painted the leaf structure with brushstrokes to give it a definite direction. The long drips underneath are less directed, they don't always follow the path straight down and that was up to them. We have the same theme in life - dare to go with the flow or try to direct it.

Meditation is an important part of my creative practice and my paintings are dynamic yet calming. I hope they are used to bring a sense of peace, good energy and balance to the space they are in. Having lived in so many places around the world and having experienced so many different cultures, languages and artistic expression, I am often in awe of my surroundings, feeling like a tiny part of this natural and created world. I want to reflect the beauty I see without representing it like a photograph. I want the brush strokes, marks and drips to work together with the colours to create something that will make the viewer feel at least something similar to what I want to express. A feeling that cannot be put into words which satisfies the soul.
