Artwork Description

As a painter, I am constantly inspired by the world around me, and my work reflects my deep appreciation for the beauty of both nature and the complexity of contemporary life. I am particularly drawn to the use of texture, shapes and composition and enjoy incorporating a variety of elements, such as collage, layered textured acrylic paint, and found organic and man-made objects, into my pieces. My goal is to create intuitive works that not only look beautiful but also make an impact, and I strive to imbue each piece with a sense of thoughtfulness and contemplation.

Composition is a crucial aspect of my work, and I take great care in balancing and arranging my elements to create a harmonious and visually pleasing piece. My style is contemporary, and I aim to create pieces that feel quirky and modern. I am passionate about exploring the connection between the natural world and contemporary life, and my hope is that my paintings will inspire viewers to look more closely at the world around them and appreciate its beauty and complexity.

This painting is an intuitive mixed media piece that incorporates pink and beige tones with black spray paint to create a striking and powerful composition. The use of acrylic paint, combined with other mixed media and collage elements, adds to the overall impact of the piece and creates a truly unique and dynamic work of art.

This painting explores the struggle between nature and contemporary life, capturing the tension that exists when they collide. The abstract style allows for a free interpretation of the subject matter, and the use of bold patterns and shapes create a strong visual impact. Like all my work, the composition is thoughtfully arranged, with elements coming together to create an emotionally charged piece. This painting is sure to captivate and inspire and make it a standout piece of art for your home.

Artist Bio

I studied fine arts at the Queensland college of Art, majoring in illustration with distinctions. I worked as an Illustrator for the first couple of years, then life took me to Italy, where I started a family and taught English. Painting remained a background constant, but family and work was prioritised. For 3 decades I have been exploring visual expression through painting. My work today is informed by my professional training as an Illustrator and moves between figurative expression and semi-abstraction as I explore the world around me and more particularly, the emotions and instinct it engenders. Over the last 10 years I have slowly made my way back to my love of painting with exhibitions and some prizes! Woohoo! My works are held in private collections nationally.
