Artwork Description

More inspiration from my regular bike rides around the picturesque Warrnambool breakwater - the sea green water, silvered timbered boardwalk, white bollards and a cormorant having a preen resting on one of several rowboats moored along the wall. It pairs well with Boat Perch, seen in the photos here, but could be equally at home on its own.

Artist Bio

My ambition is always seeking to capture beauty in the everyday. Many paintings share a strong connection to the environment and our place within it.
At the heart of everything is the search for light that transforms the ordinary into something else.
I moved to Warrnambool, on Victoria’s south west, after almost three decades as a newspaper journalist.
In 2020, I completed a Visual Arts Cert IV course at South West TAFE.
I primarily paint with oils in my home studio in a figurative and realism style; influenced by artists whose art features a strong storytelling element such as American, Edward Hopper.
In 2025 I held my first solo exhibition in Warrnambool called The Extraordinary Ordinary, celebrating how every day scenes can be incredibly beautiful, when viewed in a certain light.
I have been a finalist in various well known Australian art prizes, including the Kennedy Prize, John Villiers Outback Art Prize and ANL Maritime Art Award and Exhibition.
